James Auer, 76, died Dec. 17, 2004. He was an art critic for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Auer first joined Society of Professional Journalist in 1970. Auer went to The Milwaukee Journal in 1972 as art editor. The Journal-Sentinel reported that during his time at the papers, Auer wrote about everything, "including movies, theater, history and obituaries of the rich, famous and artful."
