Ralph Wickstrom
Ralph Wickstrom is a retired college professor who has lived in Ripon, Wisconsin since 1961. His interest in and involvement with art over a period of more that three decades has recently led to a change from primarily collecting to producing artwork. Since retirement, he has devoted most of his productive effort to the making of indoor and outdoor metal sculpture from scrap steel. Ralph finds it challenging and deeply satisfying to give new life to scrap steel, or as sculptor Isamu Noguchi eloquently put it, to "reincarnate it as a creation." Universally appealing geometric forms and abstract shapes are the basic elements used in his compositions. EDUCATION: BS - Morningside Collge, Sioux City, Iowa 1948 MA - University of Iowa 1950 PhD - University of Iowa 1952 WORK EXPERIENCE: Professor at Ripon College 1961 - 1990
