The Splendor of Nature in Art

From the exquisitely etched landscapes of Rembrandt to the bucolic scenery of Claude Lorrain and the rugged linocuts of George Raab, the David Barnett Gallery presents The Splendor of Nature in Art — capturing the intimate to the magnificent in the environment from Rembrandt to the present. Inspiring wonder and awe, landscape has been an important genre in art. Through a variety of media, the exhibition will display artists’ inspiration from the natural environment. The show will feature landscapes both real and imagined and will explore the ways in which artists have “staged” nature — striving either for verisimilitude or fantasy.
