Evangelina Romanova is a survivor of childhood leukemia, and is now thriving as an aspiring artist. The David Barnett Gallery is honored to partner with Evangelina in selling her prints to help raise money for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc. at Children's Hospital WI. 

 

All donations directly benefit MACC Fund, which is dedicated to funding childhood cancer and related blood disorder research. Donations of $500 or more will receive a complimentary print of Evangelina’s artwork, please reach out to the gallery if you would like to learn more about how you can help.

In conjunction with the David Barnett Gallery's Winter 2023 Exhibition, "Art is How We Live Our Lives: Black Artists in Wisconsin", Art Historian Jennifer McCormick presents her lecture discussing the works of William "Prophet" Blackmon, Simon Sparrow, Della Wells, John Biggers, and Reginald K. Gee. In this lecture she provides biographical information for each artist, as well as some personal interpretations of the artists works respectively.

Where cultural object meets fine art: talking about textiles

Presented by Art Historian Jennifer McCormick, this lecture will consider the ways in which textiles from various cultures have led to the acceptance of the decorative within fine art, as well as the ways in which pattern making has been influenced by cultural textiles.

gALLERY TALK: Myth meets modernity

A snippet of the 2018 gallery talk "Myth Meets Modernity" presented by Rachel Kreiter at the David Barnett Gallery in Downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This talk coincided with the Surrealism in Mexican Art exhibition, which was influenced by early 20th century explorations of the human subconscious: a depiction of life, death, spirituality, the natural world, and the mind. Featured artwork by: José Luis Cuevas, Antonio Díaz Cortés, Paco Huacuja, Miguel Castro Leñero, Mónica Flores Martínez, Alejandro Mojica, Teresa Olabuenaga, Arturo Secunda, David Alfaro Siqueiros, among others.
