Judi Ekholm is most concerned with color and pattern in her paintings. She focuses on different vantage points and her oil painting technique is similar to the Old Masters with many layers of paint and glazing. Her images of landscapes and gardens are both romantic and bold. She does everything from small florals to large scale works with vast depth. Each painting is conceived to make its own original and unique statement.
Judi is originally from near Louisville, Kentucky. She and her husband Robert, who is also a painter, now reside in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. She received her M.A.T. degree from Indiana University and has studied with Bill Bailey and James McGarrell. She is an avid gardener and her oil paintings exhibit her knowledge and love of the land.
