"Magic" is an original pastel and pencil drawing on paper by Della Wells. The artist signed and dated the piece in the lower right. The image is filled with elements of magic: a woman with a hand above her head with an all-seeing eye in it; cards at her feet; a black cat; and a house with another all-seeing eye on the central house's pediment. At the base of the house, above the cat's head is a watermelon wedge, referring to the stereotypes of African Americans. The sky is filled with gestural, expressive marks.
