The present color collagraph, from the portfolio 'Los Animales,' is an excellent example of Joseph Rozman's pictographic style. Rozman's work often looks to ancient and non-western artistic idioms for inspiration, and in this portfolio he looks especially to the stone carving and written language of the Mayans. In this print, a stylized image of a white deer is framed by ambiguous green symbols against a field of maroon. Below, figures dance and writhe in a field of brown.
