Art Info:

The artist of the painting The Fortune Teller was just recently discovered in 1991 to be Maitre aux Beguins otherwise known as Abraham Willemsens. This discovery was found by the art historian Gregory Martin, who works for the National Gallery in London and specializes in Flemish and Reuben‘s paintings. Willemsens was born in 1610 in Antwerp. At the age of 17 he began his painting career by becoming a student under Willem Antonissens. By the age of 35, he became the dean of the Guild of St. Luke. Willemsens later died in 1672 from unknown causes. Willemsens style of painting took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance artist, Caravaggio.
