Hand-colored linocut on wove paper
6.25 x 3.88 in
'Weeping Woman' is an original hand-colored linocut print signed by American artist Marvin Hill. The small, one-of-a-kind print depicts a woman in a flowing classical garment. Her hair obscures her face as she leans on large stone steps. The subject here is clearly neoclassical, drawing from the imagery of ancient Greece and Rome; however, Hill's handling of the subject reflects the Art Deco style that saw newfound interest in the 1980s. hand-colored linocut on wove paper 3.66 x 6.25 inches, image 6 x 8 inches, sheet 14 x 11 inches, frame signed and dated in pencil, lower right entitled in pencil, lower center edition 1/1 in pencil, lower left Overall good and stable condition; some toning to paper from previous framing; housed in a new custom frame.
