Mark Edwin Dockree

Mark Edwin Dockree (British, c. 1856-c. 1901) 66 Hers Shenley Hertford Rickmansworth (Central Southwest England) Urban Artist Painter in Oil The Chesham News of the 16th of May announced the death of Mr. Edwin Dockree at one of the London Hospitals as the result of an internal complaint from which he long suffered. For many years Mr.Dockree serves in the Inland Branch of the Circulation Department, General Post Office. As an overseer he gained a high reputation for efficiency and zeal. He was an artist of no mean repute, and his paintings were so much in demand that he was induced in the year 1881 to retire from the Post Office in order to devote himself to art. He settled at Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. Mr. Dockree was a member of the Rickmansworth Urban District council for several years, but had not attended the meeting for some months past owing to his failing health. In addition, he was vice chairman of the Rural Parish Council, and a member of the Joint Burial Committee. He was also a member of the old Parish Council, which body became extinct on the formation of the Urban District.
